|Meaning||Three strokes under par|
Albatross is one of three bird-related terms used for scores under par. One stroke under par is known as a birdie, while two strokes under par is known as an eagle. Also, as the scores get better (further under par), the size of the bird gets larger (an albatross is a huge oceanic bird).
"That albatross on the 12th hole was amazing."
"Best putt of my life for three under par!"
