AOC

1. What does AOC stand for?

Available on cell

When someone says they're AOC in a chat, email, or text message, it means they're "available on cell." So if you want to reach the person, you can do so by calling their cell phone.

Oftentimes, people include their phone number and/or the times they are available with the AOC acronym. For example, someone who ends an email with "I'll be out tomorrow but AOC (555-555-5555) from 9 to 2" will be available to call at the listed number from 9 am to 2 pm.

2. Who is AOC?

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

AOC is "Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez," who is a Democratic politician. She was first elected to office in November 2018 as the U.S. Representative for New York's 14th congressional district.

Ocasio-Cortez became the youngest woman ever to serve in the United States Congress at age 29. She is active on social media, especially on Twitter, which is partially why she is often referred to by her "AOC" initials (to save on typing characters).

AOC is somewhat of a lightning rod among Republicans and some Democrats since she's a member of the Democratic Socialists of America. She often is used by conservatives to represent the progressive movement, especially in regards to environmental, health care, economic, and immigration issues.

Example

I'm so proud of AOC's work on the Green New Deal
Really? I think it's a waste of money
