HR

An abbreviation for the measurement of time equal to 60 minutes; often used to describe when something starts or the time that you'll arrive some place; can also be seen as "hrs" when used plurally.

HR is a quick way to say "home run." It refers to when a baseball player hits the ball over the fence and rounds the bases back to home base.

A player may also hit an inside-the-park home run by running all the bases to home on his hit without any errors. HR commonly shows up on stat sheets.

In the workplace, HR is a quick way for co-workers to refer to their business's Human Resources department. An HR department usually handles hiring, onboarding, compensation, benefits, and firing. They also manage and resolve complaints about harassment, discrimination, and other events that require disciplinary action.

Large businesses tend to have distinct HR departments, staffed by multiple employees whose only job is managing the business's employee recruitment, benefits, and retention (or lack thereof). Small businesses often handle HR matters informally, via direct conversations between an employee and their manager.

A simple way to refer to homeroom, a school session where a teacher makes announcements and takes attendance; also called Registration or Connect Time.
