Jet

What does it mean to jet?

Leave quickly

When you have to leave someplace abruptly, you gotta jet. For example, when the babysitter calls to tell you that your kid is sick, you tell your friends, "Sorry, but I have to jet. My kid just threw up."

The term comes from the high speed an airline jet must obtain to take off into the air. While people started using it in real life (IRL) in the 20th century, you may also see it online and in messages. Examples of when you have to jet (besides when your kid is sick) include rushing off to school, work, or home, or trying to take a picture of an amazing sunset.

Example

I gotta jet, but I'll catch ya later
SG! Cya later
