|Meaning||Halfway point of a round of golf|
The turn is a golf term that refers to the midway point of a round of golf. It is the end of the "front nine" and before the "back nine".
The term comes from the design of courses where the first nine holes were moving outward, away from the clubhouse. Then, you would turn back to the clubhouse where the final 9 holes led inward towards the clubhouse.
"He led by 3 strokes at the turn but then lost that lead in the back nine to lose by 2 strokes."
