What does WS stand for in baseball?

World Series

Baseball fans use WS to refer to the "World Series." This acronym refers to the MLB championship series that pits the AL (American League) champion against the NL (National League) champion.

The World Series is a best-of-7 contest in which the champion is crowned baseball's "World Champion." (This despite the fact that the MLB includes only American and Canadian teams.) The team whose league won that year's All-Star game gets to host 4 of the 7 games, providing a form of home field advantage.
