Definition

Albatross is a golf term that means three strokes under par for a specific hole. It may also be known as a "double eagle," which is better than an eagle score.

Albatross is one of three bird-related terms used for scores under par. One stroke under par is known as a birdie, while two strokes under par is known as an eagle. Also, as the scores get better (further under par), the size of the bird gets larger (an albatross is a huge oceanic bird).

Example
"That albatross on the 12th hole was amazing.
Best putt of my life for three under par!"
