ANR

What does ANR stand for?

Application Not Responding

ANR is an acronym for application not responding, which is a dialog users may encounter in Android devices. It occurs when an app is unresponsive for a certain period of time and Android prompts the user to close the app.

An app's responsiveness is monitored by Android's Activity Manager and Window Manager system services. If an app does not respond to an input event within 5 seconds or a "BroadcastReceiver" does not finish executing within 10 seconds, the ANR dialog will be displayed in Android.
