B2B

What does B2B stand for in finance?

Business-to-business

In the worlds of commerce and finance, B2B stands for business-to-business. This acronym describes situations in which businesses conduct transactions with each other.

Some businesses specialize in providing goods or services to other businesses. For example, Salesforce provides customer relationship management (CRM) software to other businesses. These businesses may describe themselves as B2B firms, because they sell only to other businesses.

In contrast, B2C (business-to-consumer) firms sell products directly to consumers. Many businesses are both B2B and B2C firms. For example, McDonald's buys raw ingredients from other businesses and sells "food" to consumers.
