BDU

What is a BDU online and when using computers?

Brain dead user

BDU is an insult that describes a computer user who is not thinking straight, daydreaming, or is slow to understand. For example, if you work in IT support and a user you are helping does not know the difference between downloading an app and installing it, you might refer to that user as a "BDU" with your colleagues.

You will likely see BDU in messages or online forums, especially tech-related ones. However, you might also see it on social media sites, like Twitter and Reddit, when referring to users who have committed brain farts.

Since BDU claims no activity in a person's brain, recipients of the acronym may take offense to the label. Therefore, you should only send it to people you know that can handle being teased or make sure they don't know you're using it to describe them.

Example

Sorry, I didn't send the attachment the first time. I'm a BDU right now
NP. I get that way in the afternoon, too
