A bonus dad is a man who helps parent a child from another father. The person may be an instadad, the child's mom's boyfriend, a male friend of the child's parent, the father of the child's friend, or the child's male teacher.

Bonus dads are typically seen as role models by the child and take on some of the responsibilities of a parent. They may make dad jokes, help with homework, go to little league games, buy presents, or help change diapers. It goes with the saying "It takes a village to raise a child" and is the male version of bonus mom.
