CGL

What does CGL stand for?

Complete game losses

A baseball statistic used to record the number of complete games a pitcher has lost.

A complete game is when a SP pitches the whole nine innings of a game. Usually a pitcher wins a complete game because it means that he's pitched well enough to stay in the whole game. However, some times the opposing pitcher(s) pitches better and that's when a complete game loss occurs.

Example

"He doesn't get much run support from his team as he leads the league with 5 CGL."
