LGS

What does LGS stand for?

Local game store

To players of board games, Dungeons & Dragons, and Magic: The Gathering, LGS stands for "local game store." An LGS is a nearby, brick-and-mortar store in which tabletop gamers can gather to purchase and play the latest board, card, and miniatures games, as well as tabletop RPGs.

If an LGS is particularly friendly, you might see it labeled as an FLGS. Good LGSes are inclusive, community-minded, and run events that encourage gamers to socialize with each other. While many games that could previously be played only in person can now also be played online, there's still no substitute for a night spent gaming IRL at your LGS.

A new LGS just opened up, and they've got a DnD night on Tuesdays. Finally, I can play again!
