Nip It

What does nip it mean?

Hit a golf ball cleanly

Nip it is a golf term for when you hit the ball cleanly on an iron shot. Since you hit it cleanly there is no divot from your shot and very little backspin if any at all.

When you hit the ball too low, which is common in golf, you put backspin on the ball and most likely take a chunk of the ground, which is a divot, with your shot. You can nip it from a variety of places around the course including the green in some circumstances.

Example

What you want to do is nip it so it lands a couple feet in front of the hole
