Non-qualified option

An acronym that stands for non-qualified stock option.

NQO includes the right to purchase shares of a company for a fixed price by a certain date. For NQOs, you have to pay the ordinary income tax on the difference between the exercise price and the market value of the stock when they exercise, which differs from ISO. The option can be granted to anyone, not only employees. NQOs are also known as NSO and NQSO acronyms.
