Paratext

What does paratext mean?

Paragraph text

A paratext is a term that refers to a very long text that requires you to scroll down to read the entire message. The term comes from the combination of "paragraph" and "text."

Paratexts are usually sent during an argument or weighty discussion that requires clarification. They may also be sent between romantically-linked persons. However, if a paratext is sent when a simple response would suffice or after first meeting someone, it may be considered annoying and weird.

Example

"He asked me out in a paratext, which was kinda sweet but also kinda annoying."
