RUT

What does RUT stand for?

Are you there?

Someone who sends you RUT (are you there) wants to know if you're still around. You might receive RUT during an online chat session, if you've gone AFK (or become otherwise distracted) without notice.

To avoid receiving RUT in the future, you can send BRB, BI5, BBIAB, JAM, or AFK before stepping away from your keyboard, to let the person you're chatting with know you have to dip for a bit. Then, when you return, you can send BAK or BAC to announce that you're back.

Example

RUT?
Sorry, delivery driver showed up. BAK now

A woman who wants to know: RUT?
