Definition

A Sham bomb is a breaking NBA report released by Shams Charania, a NBA reporter for The Vertical on Yahoo. The report often comes out of nowhere and includes news about a player or the league that carries a significant impact, which is why it is referred to as a bomb.

The term is similar to Woj bomb, which is a report by Adrian Wojnarowski, another NBA insider. The Sham bomb term became popular in June and July of 2017 when Shams Charania began releasing more breaking news reports and gained more Twitter followers. Sham bombs typically occur during the NBA offseason during the draft and when free agency starts. During these times is when player trades and signings are most prevalent.

Example
"The Sham bomb about Butler left me shattered, I can't believe he was traded!"
