Slasher is a subgenre of horror films that features a crazy mad-man murderer that kills countless victims. The villain typically murders people with some type of blade, such as a knife, machete, or axe.

This genre commonly involves a lot of bloodshed and high body counts. Some of the most popular slasher psychopaths include Michael Myers from "Halloween," Freddy Krueger from "A Nightmare on Elm Street," and Jason Voorhees from "Friday the 13th."
