TikToker

What is a TikToker?

A TikTok user

A TikToker is a person who uses TikTok, which is a video-sharing social platform. The term is a combination of "TikTok" and "user," the same way that "YouTuber" is a combination of "YouTube" and "user."

What does a TikToker do?

A TikToker may just use the platform to watch other people's videos for entertainment purposes, much like YouTube. However, most TikTokers upload and share their own videos, which may be comedic, motivational, dramatic, or informational.

What is TikTok?

TikTok is a social networking service that allows people to share videos via its mobile app. It was initially released in China in 2016 by ByteDance as "A.me" but was then changed to "Douyin." It premiered in the United States in 2018 after TikTok merged with musical.ly, another video-sharing social platform.

TikTok trends

Because a large number of celebrities, artists, teens, and young adults use TikTok, the platform has birthed pop culture trends. These trends gain traction partially due to TikTok's "For You" (FYP) pages, which feature content culled by the platform's AI. The AI selects and promotes content for TikTokers based on their app activity.
