TPK

What does TPK stand for in RPGs?

Total Party Kill

RPG players use the acronym TPK to refer to a Total Party Kill. Most commonly, you'll see DnD players use this term to reference an event that wiped out their entire adventuring party.

TPKs are uncommon but devastating when they occur, since they can bring a campaign to a screeching halt. They may be caused by a DM overestimating a party's abilities, or by party members making poor choices (such as engaging a strong enemy instead of running away).
