Fur Baby

What is a fur baby?

A furry pet

A "fur baby" is a pet that has fur, often a dog or cat. The owner dotes on the pet, much like a mother nurtures her newborn baby, which is where it gets its name.

People who refer to their pets as fur babies typically have no kids and have replaced human babies with pets to satisfy their nurturing desires. Some call these people pet parents.

Pet parents may dress up their fur babies for Halloween, put sweaters on them when it's cold out, carry them in their purses, or put little booties on their paws. While there are many pet parents, not all fur baby owners are this hyper-protective.

Although cats and dogs are the most common fur babies, other animals may qualify. Some alternatives include sugar gliders, hamsters, guinea pigs, gerbils, and mice.
