Whammed

What does whammed mean?

Hearing the song Last Christmas

When you hear the song "Last Christmas" by Wham! during Whamageddon, you've just been "whammed." The term comes from a challenge where you try to avoid hearing the original version of the popular song during Christmastime (December 1 to 24). Once you hear the song (aka you get whammed), you must confess to the other participants that you have been eliminated.

For example, if you are shopping in a store for your friend's Xmas gift and the song comes on over the loudspeakers, you've been whammed. Or, if you turn on the radio when getting in your car and the song is playing, you've been whammed.

After getting whammed, people may confess their whamming via messages with their friends or post how they got whammed on social media. For example, a Redditor may post, "My mom unwittingly whammed me at dinner only four days into Whamageddon."

Example

I was driving home from Christmas Eve at my mom's and got whammed 30 minutes before Christmas day
Ouch, that's brutal
