Name Dropping

What does name dropping mean?

Bragging about a person you know

Name dropping is when a person is bragging about a person that he is friends with, met, or saw one time. It is typically done by people who are insecure and want to impress others.

Name dropping includes mentioning famous people, such as celebrities and athletes, that make others think you're important. A variation of name dropping is "brand dropping" but instead of mentioning a person, it's a brand name. Name dropping can get pretty annoying to listen to and can easily be seen through, so don't do it. It may also appear as "name-dropping."
