Whaling is a slang term for when a person mimicks the movements of a whale breaching out of the water. The "whaling" action involves one or more persons out of sight from the camera that pop up like a whale out of the water.
The fad was made popular in 2014 on Vine, which is a social media site where users can upload "snippets" of video that can last no more than six seconds. The more bizarre or public the location of the whaling, the better.
