MOBA game maps are typically divided into one or more lanes, in which the majority of combat takes place. For example League of Legends' (LoL) primary game map, Summoner's Rift, consists of three lanes. These lanes are usually referred to as top, mid, and bot, reflecting their placement on the map.
To win a MOBA match, champions must "push" through their opponents' lanes (which are defended by multiple towers) and destroy their opponents' base. While most PvP combat takes place in lanes, players may also end up fighting in a map's jungle.
