What does lurker mean?

A person who is present but doesn't engage

A lurker is a person who seems to constantly be around but doesn't engage with other people. It's usually a male but may sometimes be a female. Either way, it's usually creepy.

There are several different definitions for "lurker" but all of them describe a person that is similar to a creeper. One definition is that it's a person who follows forums but never posts anything, which makes you wonder why he or she is there. Another definition comes from the TV show "Friends," when Ross tells Phoebe that the lady following her at the casino uses the slot machines behind her in order to win after Phoebe leaves.
