Remote drop refers to a television show, movie, etc., that you enjoy so much, you can't change the channel, effectively causing you to drop the remote. For example, if you are flipping through channels on your TV and come across The Shawshank Redemption, you drop the remote and watch the rest of the movie regardless of when you joined its airing.
People may ask about others' remote drops when getting to know them because it reveals things about them that may have been difficult to discover otherwise. For example, fans of film director Christopher Nolan were surprised when he shared on The Rich Eisen Show on December 15, 2020, that one of his remote drops is Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.
