|Meaning||A player drafted low but exceeds expectations|
A sleeper is a player in fantasy sports that is picked in the late rounds of a draft and exceeds expectations. It is similar to a breakout where the player performs much better than projected.
The term comes from owners "sleeping" on a player by not picking them. The player may be returning from an injury, a rookie in his first year, or a player that not many people know of who is flying under the radar.
"Johnson is my sleeper pick at WR this year. Hopefully I can get him in the 10th round."
